About “While There’s Still Time”

In 2017, along with Don’s friends Steve Hunter on piano and George Koller on bass, Genevieve Marentette recorded four demos of Don Francks original compositions for their preservation. Unsurprisingly the diverse material has jazzy, musical theatre qualities, and one might imagine a scripted cabaret of characters to properly deliver. But the sentimental tune “While There’s Still Time” has since become a staple in their repertoires. The song is a contrafact of the classic Moon River (Breakfast At Tiffany’s), and Genevieve has performed it with Barbra Lica, June Garber, Lori Cullen, The Tiki Collective and The Order Of Canada Big Band, arranged by Don Thompson (O.C.).
